ESPORG, together with its public and private partners, from the European Commission, the International Transport Forum (ITF), ACEA, IRU, CLECAT, ECG, ESC, UETR, TVM, Dekra, Truckerslife, BTB ABVV, launches the 2025 edition of its Excellence in Truck Parking Award with a sweet green cherry on the cake.

Today, ESPORG, the European Secure Truck Parking Organisation, with its public and private partners from the European Commission, the International Transport Forum (ITF), ACEA, IRU, CLECAT, ECG, ESC, UETR, TVM, Dekra, Truckerslife and BTB ABVV launch the 2025 edition of its Excellence in Truck Parking Award, with the objective to promote safety, security, quality, connectivity and care in providing services to professional truck drivers when using safe and secure truck parking areas.

A new award has also been launched, to reward truck parking areas showcasing excellent green parking management and credentials, focusing on management actions leading to reducing environmental impacts, to mitigate emissions and resources consumption, as well as measures to reduce the environmental impact on local communities.

The international jury will also seek to reward candidates from all categories of parking areas – bronze, silver, gold and platinum – with the objective to award parking areas in any of the four categories.

The aim of the European Truck Parking Award is to promote excellence and to help spread good practices in view of improving security and quality of services offered by truck parking operators to professional truck drivers, and, by doing so, to enhance the attractiveness and appeal of the driver profession to an increasingly diverse and wider public, including young people and women, whilst at the same time improving truck parking green records and credentials.

Michael Nielsen, President of ESPORG, said: “We are pleased to launch this now fourth edition of the Award, by innovating and adding a third Excellence Award, focusing for the first time on green parking management, thus showcasing and promoting the best among the excellent, and by the same token, contribute to resolutely improving our contribution to protecting environment and the working conditions of professional lorry drivers across Europe.”

As a reminder, in 2024 the Delta Park Truck Secure Parking and On Turtle La Jonquera truck parking areas were voted European Truck Parking Areas of the Year. Representatives from the winning truck parking areas will join the international jury for this year’s edition of the award.

Candidates can be small (up to 50 spaces) and large (more than 50 spaces) public and private truck parking areas, as well as road transport companies operating truck parking facilities, which have been audited and already satisfy one of the four levels of the EU-Parking Standard – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. They must prepare a dossier in the English language and submit it by 7 February 2025. The winners and runners up will be unveiled at a public ceremony in Brussels on 5 March 2025.
