In a groundbreaking move for the European transport industry, the Uniunea Societăților de Expediții din România (USER), Romania’s leading association for freight forwarders, has been named the official Wellbeing Ambassador for Romania by the European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG). This prestigious recognition highlights USER’s commitment to enhancing the health, safety, and happiness of transport professionals, aligning perfectly with the goals of the European Wellbeing Initiative (EWELLIN).
Who is USER?
Founded in 1993, USER is a professional organization that unites companies involved in all modes of transport, logistics, intermodal operations, and customs services. With its headquarters in Bucharest, USER’s mission encompasses commercial promotion, legislative support, representation of members’ interests, and ongoing education in the freight forwarding sector. As a member of international bodies like FIATA (International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations) and CLECAT (European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs Services), USER plays a vital role in advocating for Romania’s transport industry on the global stage.
Over the years, USER has expanded its focus beyond traditional logistics to include driver wellbeing, recognizing that a healthy workforce is essential for sustainable transport operations. In June 2025, USER signed the Wellbeing Pledge, committing to prioritize driver health and wellbeing—a pivotal step that paved the way for its ambassadorial role.
The European Wellbeing Initiative: A Movement for Change
The European Wellbeing Initiative, or EWELLIN, is a pioneering program launched in March 2025 with support from the European Commission. Dedicated to improving the health, safety, and happiness of those who keep Europe’s supply chains moving, EWELLIN addresses critical challenges like labor shortages, road safety, and the overall attractiveness of transport professions. At its core, the initiative promotes safe and secure parking areas (SSPAs) as essential hubs for driver rest and recovery, emphasizing dignity, respect, and quality of life.
Through education, training, and recognition, EWELLIN empowers companies and associations to foster a supportive environment for drivers. The Wellbeing Campaign, a key component, provides resources and tools to help drivers thrive both on and off the road.
The Milestone Event: Wellbeing Days in Romania
USER’s appointment as Wellbeing Ambassador was celebrated at the inaugural Wellbeing Days event in Bucharest on October 14, 2025, held at TransLogistica Romania. This high-profile gathering, themed “Drive Safe, Park Safe, Work Safe, Live Well,” drew over 2,000 participants, including industry leaders, policymakers, and drivers from across Europe.
Hosted in partnership with ESPORG, the event featured opening remarks from ESPORG General Manager Dirk Penasse, video messages from European Commissioners Roxana Mînzatu and Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and insightful panels on safe parking and driver wellbeing. USER’s Secretary General, Iuliana Badea, played a prominent role, speaking on EU parking standards and public-private partnerships in Panel 1.
The highlight was the presentation of the Wellbeing Ambassador Certificate to USER by Druselia Betea, founder of EWELLIN. Iuliana Badea expressed USER’s honour in receiving the title, stating, “We will continue addressing wellbeing topics” to support Romania’s transport sector. Dozens of attendees signed the Wellbeing Pledge, amplifying the initiative’s reach. Why This Matters: Impact on Romania and Beyond
USER’s role as Wellbeing Ambassador positions it as a leader in promoting driver-centric policies in Romania. By focusing on secure parking, mental health resources, and professional recognition, USER aims to combat issues like driver fatigue and retention, ultimately boosting road safety and economic efficiency.
This ambassadorship not only elevates USER’s profile but also contributes to EWELLIN’s pan-European goals. As Marius Cae, President of USER, noted in related discussions, prioritising wellbeing is an investment in the future of transport. With events like Wellbeing Days generating media buzz and reaching thousands, the momentum is building for a healthier, safer transport ecosystem across the continent.

As the next chapter unfolds, USER is poised to drive meaningful change through seminars, partnerships, and advocacy. For more information on joining USER or supporting the Wellbeing Initiative, visit their website at user.ro or contact office@user.ro.
