Esporg Conference 2025
The ESPORG Conference 2025 brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders for a pivotal gathering on the future of safe and secure truck parking across Europe. Held on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 at the Albert Borschette Conference Center in Brussels, this prestigious event provided a platform for collaboration, dialogue, and innovation in the transportation and logistics sector.
We are especially grateful to to the European Commission; first and foremost to Commissioner Tzitzikostas for his much appreciated videomessage and to HoU Jean-Louis Colson and Deputy HoU Filip-Alexandru Negrean-Arboreanu of Unit B3 for their unwavering support.
We also want to express our appreciation to Mr Kosma Zลotowski, Member of the European Parliament for his valuable contribution to the launch of the Wellbeing Campaign and his ongoing support for the Truck Parking Award.
ย This years conference explored into critical themes, including:
- The Results of the New SSPA Study โ Presented by Rob de Leeuw Van Weenen, representative of the study consortium PANTEIA โ TIS โ ESPORG, and Filip Alexandru Negreanu-Arboreanu, who explored the findings and future challenges related to Safe and Secure Parking Areas (SSPAs).
- The Impact of Crime and Illegal Migration on SSPA โ Presented by Carl De Caluwรฉ, Governor of West Flanders, addressing safety concerns related to truck parking.
- Insights from a Professional Driver โ Shared by Caroline Baugniet, former professional truck driver and TV personality, who offered a firsthand perspective on the challenges in the industry.
The event also featured a panel discussion on how the industry and authorities could collaborate to develop SSPAs, with contributions from Rodrigo Moltรณ Martin (Ministerio De Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible, Spain), Godfried Smit (ESC – European Shippers Council), Frank Moreels (ETF – European Transport Workers Federation), Marco Digioia (UETR – European Road Haulers Association), Cedric Vigneau (Moeve), and Dirk Penasse (ESPORG).
Another highlight was the launch of ESPORGโs 2025 Wellbeing Campaign, introduced by Jean-Louis Colson (Head of Unit C1 DG MOVE), Kosma Zlotowski (Member of the European Parliament), and Druselia Betea (ESPORG).
The event concluded with the ESPORG Excellence in Truck Parking Award Ceremony, where we celebrated remarkable contributions to the development of safe and secure truck parking solutions across Europe.
This conference provided an unparalleled opportunity for networking, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnership building. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions about the future of secure truck parking in Europe, helping to shape the path forward for safer, more efficient solutions across the continent.
