ESPORG had a successful week atย SOLUTRANS 2025, marked by productive industry meetings, insightful discussions with national and EU authorities, ย fruitful workshop and strengthened strategic cooperation for secure parking areas and drivers wellbeing in France and the EU.
Held fromย 18 to 22 Novemberย in Lyon, SOLUTRANS brought togetherย 64,000 professional visitsย and almostย 1,100 exhibitors, offering an unparalleled view of the sectorโs dynamism, innovation, and preparedness for the future.
At the ESPORG stand in SOLUTRANS, visitors discovered:
- A growing network ofย over 120 certified Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas (SSTPA)ย across Europe;
- Majorย EU-funded projectsย supporting the development of secure parkings;
- Theย Wellbeing Cornerย where drivers, operators, and policymakers explored ESPORGโs European Wellbeing Initiative;
- A daily programme of exchanges with operators, innovators, and public authorities shaping EU transport policy.
ESPORGโs presence underscored its leading role in the sector by bringing togetherย infrastructure quality, EU policy, operator expertise, and driver wellbeingย under a unified European framework.
Visitors also learned about the exclusive benefits of ESPORG membership, includingย access to EU funding, support for achieving parking certification, and opportunities for collaboration and networking within the wider logistics community.
EU and National Authorities at the ESPORG Stand
ESPORGโs stand became the meeting point for institutions shaping transport policy across Europe. Delegations included theย Spanish Regional Government of Castilla y Leรณn,, theย Government of Flanders,Theย Romanian Road Authorityย and, notably, theย European Commission, represented byย Jean-Louis Colson, Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European Commission.
The EC official met withย ESPORG General Manager Dirk Penasseย to discuss the strong impact of EU-funded projects that are delivering remarkable progress in safe and secure truck parking. He reviewed the achievements of ESPORG members showcased at the stand, includingย HESBYMAZOUT Truck Park Liรจge,ย NITIPark,ย Automotive Cluster Bulgaria, andย BIDEGI.
I am amazed that the entire sector is supporting the need for safe and secure parking areas, noted the EC official.
At ourย Wellbeing Corner, we also exchanged views with the European Commission on the crucial role that safe and secure parking areas play in improvingย driver wellbeing. We are proud to highlight that Mr. Colson supported the launch of ESPORGโsย European Wellbeing Initiativeย in March 2025โand was the very first signatory of theย Wellbeing Pledgeย Pledge.
Stronger partnership: FNTR & ESPORG Join Forces at SOLUTRANS
A cornerstone of ESPORGโs SOLUTRANS agenda was theย joint workshop with the Fรฉdรฉration Nationale des Transports Routiers (FNTR), held on 20 November. The event brought together parking operators, infrastructure managers and industry representatives from across France and Europe to discuss the deployment of high-quality secure parking and improved working conditions for drivers.
Dirk Penasse emphasised the significance of ESPORG strengthened collaboration with FNTR:
โOur collaboration with FNTR is an important step forward in advancing safe parking areas and improving driver well-being. We are honoured by this partnership, and I hope that by the next fair we will see many more certified secure parking areas in France serving French transport operators.โ
Benjamin Joigneauxย reaffirmed FNTRโs long-standing commitment to defending the needs of transport operators:
โIt is essential to work hand in hand with ESPORG for the deployment of safe and secure parking areas, for the benefit of companies and drivers.โ
He also stressed the broader importance of safety and quality parking in helping the transport sector meet European requirements, improve road safety, and attract new talent:
โAt a time when recruiting professional drivers is becoming increasingly difficult, we want to retain our drivers and attract new onesโespecially young people and women. Wellbeing and safety are truly essential.โ
Florence Berthelot,ย FNTR General Delegate, delivered a strong message on FNTRโs commitment to improving driversโ working conditions:
โIt is important that drivers benefit from a safe environment where they can rest and stay connected with their families. This is something we care deeply about.โ
She also announced a major milestone:
FNTR will strengthen its partnership with ESPORG by becoming a member as of 1 January 2026.
This announcement marks a new chapter in our shared efforts to foster a safer, more attractive, and more sustainable road transport sector.

Theย Wellbeing Cornerย at the ESPORG stand in SOLUTRANS became one of the most visited features. The visitors received aย Health Check-up Assessmentย and Guidance on improving their wellbeing, and also had the opportunity to sign theย Wellbeing Pledge.
