Europe’s truck parking sector is developing — and the Excellence in Truck Parking Award 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive editions yet.
Designed to recognise and celebrate outstanding truck parking facilities across Europe, the Excellence in Truck Parking Award has become a key benchmark for quality, safety and innovation in the sector.
For professional drivers on long and demanding journeys, these parking areas are not just simple stopping points — they are homes away from home, offering security, comfort and reliable services that support both drivers’ wellbeing and road safety.
Next to its excellence in Green Parking Management Award, the 2026 edition of the competition introduces a new category: Home Away From Home. This category aims to reward truck parks that demonstrate exceptional commitment to drivers’ wellbeing, from comfort and health to service quality and social facilities.
High Interest, Strong Commitment
Numerous parking operators from across the EU have applied for the Excellence in Truck Parking Award 2026. Following the close of the application period, a total of 21 candidatures were submitted, with applicants competing for the Excellence Awards. These entries represent 15 unique parking locations, several of which applied in more than one category — a sign of growing ambition and interest among operators.
The breakdown by category reveals the indutry’s focus:
- Home Away From Home: 10 candidatures
- Green category: 8 candidatures
After the Excellence Award, Home Away From Home stands out as the most popular category in 2026, underlining the sector’s increasing focus on human-centred services and quality of life for drivers.
A Jury with an European Vision
The Excellence in Truck Parking Award is assessed by a high-level, international jury, bringing together representatives from the European Commission, the transport and logistics sector, and professional drivers representatives. This diverse composition ensures a well-balanced evaluation, combining policy insight, operational expertise and real-world driver experience.
The jury will evaluate candidates across all four certification levels — bronze, silver, gold and platinum — with the aim of recognising outstanding truck parking facilities at every stage of development.
Each submission will be carefully assessed against a comprehensive set of criteria, including:
- Comfort and health
- Mobility and connectivity
- Environmental friendliness
- Service quality and customer satisfaction
