At ESPORG workshop on green energy transition, eight front-runner safe and secure truck parking areas from four European countries obtained their first green certificates, following an audit carried out in 2025 by DEKRA, the world’s largest independent, non-listed expert organization in the field of testing, inspection, and certification.
These are: Delta Park Dourges(FR), Le Shuttle Freight Village(FR), Truck Arena 31(FR), Truck Etape Béziers(FR), mowiz Truck Astigarraga(ES), Smart Autohof Pecica(RO), OnTurtle La Jonquera(ES), Recharge City(DK).
Developed in close partnership with DEKRA and ESPORG members, the new ESPORG voluntary standard builds on the existing EU Truck Parking Standard by adding a comprehensive sustainability layer. It enables truck parking operators to establish, improve, demonstrate and monitor their contribution to greener, more sustainable road freight transport.
Dirk Penasse, ESPORG’s General Manager, said: “It is our objective to encourage and improve green parking management, speed up the greening of the truck parking sector in Europe, and contribute to society’s efforts to reduce its impact on environment. We expect to double and potentially even triple the number of green-certified truck parking areas in Europe in the next two years, opening the road for the entire sector to improve and receive recognition of its green credentials, including among regional authorities.”
Four levels of green parking
Based on the total score achieved, certified parking areas are awarded one of the four levels:
- Level One – Green Parking(20–34 points)
- Level Two – Advanced Green Parking(35–49 points)
- Level Three – Accomplished Green Parking(50–59 points)
- Level Four – Excellent Master Green Parking(60–75 points)
