Brussels, 21 April 2026 – The European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG) today announces the launch of its new training programme “Creating a Home Away from Home Experience for Truck Drivers”, now available on the members-only EU Parking Academy online platform.
High-quality truck parking is far more than a stopping place — it is a vital link in the European transport and logistics chain. Well-designed and professionally managed parking facilities directly support driver wellbeing, improve working conditions, enhance job satisfaction and contribute to better talent retention. By elevating standards in parking services, the sector strengthens its overall image, promotes road safety and helps build a more resilient and attractive profession for the drivers who keep Europe’s supply chains moving.
The new programme introduces parking operators’ staff to the “home away from home” concept and provides practical tools to create welcoming, safe and comfortable environments that offer drivers the dignity, rest and support they deserve during long journeys. The courses are available in English, Italian and French.
This training is a key outcome of the second year of ESPORG’s Wellbeing Campaign “Drive safe, park safe, work safe, live well”, which focuses this year on the “Park safe” element. It forms a central pillar of the European Wellbeing Initiative, powered by ESPORG, whose main objective is to foster a genuine culture of wellbeing across the entire supply chain — ensuring that every stakeholder, from parking operators to transport companies and drivers, benefits from safer, more satisfying and more sustainable working conditions.
The initiative delivers clear value across the ecosystem:
- For ESPORG members: strengthened service excellence, greater customer loyalty from drivers and transport companies, enhanced competitive advantage, and full access to a collaborative community where members actively support one another by sharing knowledge and co-creating solutions.
- For the wider transport and logistics sector: higher professional standards, improved operational reliability, a more positive industry reputation and meaningful progress in tackling the driver shortage.
- For truck drivers: safer, cleaner and more humane parking experiences that reduce stress, support better rest and contribute to overall wellbeing.
The online training is complemented by two interactive practical sessions per year (spring and autumn). These workshops provide a dynamic forum for participants to discuss challenges, exchange best practices, develop practical tools together and strengthen professional networks in a collaborative setting.
The first practical session was successfully held on 16 April 2026. It was greatly enriched by the generous participation of the winners and runners-up of the 2026 Truck Parking Award in the “Home Away from Home” category, together with the Initiative’s first Wellbeing Ambassador:
- Winner: Truck Etape Bèziers (France), represented by Alexandre Lecea
- Runners-up: LeShuttle Freight Village (France), represented by Alice Simon
- Runners-up: Andamur (Spain), represented by Gema Sanchez
- Wellbeing Ambassador: MowizTRUCK (Spain), represented by Jorge Bernet Fernandez
These outstanding operators shared their award-winning practices with openness and enthusiasm, answered participants’ questions and exemplified the collaborative spirit that defines ESPORG’s community of members.
The programme was developed and is led by Druselia Betea, Head of the European Wellbeing Initiative.
The next practical session is scheduled for 9 October 2026.
To ensure the training remains cutting-edge, the online course will be updated annually with new tools, case studies and insights generated during the practical sessions, made possible through the generous contributions and active collaboration of ESPORG members.
“By investing in the wellbeing of drivers through high-quality parking experiences, we are building a stronger, more resilient and more humane transport sector that benefits every part of the supply chain,” said Druselia Betea.
ESPORG encourages all members to take advantage of this unique training opportunity and to participate actively in the upcoming practical sessions.
