On 13 September 2026, Hesbymazout Truck Park Liège hosted a dedicated Wellbeing Day as part of the European Wellbeing Initiative (Ewellin), powered by ESPORG. The event brought the Wellbeing Campaign, “Drive Safe, Park Safe, Work Safe, Live Well”, directly to a truck parking area, giving professional drivers the opportunity to take a break, focus on their health and spend some time away from the road.

The day combined health, physical activity, food and social interaction, offering drivers a variety of ways to look after their wellbeing while at the parking area. The free health check-ups provided an opportunity for drivers to pay attention to their health as part of their everyday working lives on the road.

A day dedicated to driver wellbeing

Health was one of the main focuses of the event, with drivers able to take part in free health check-ups and receive information about training and exercise opportunities. The programme also encouraged drivers to stay active during their break. Bicycles were available at the site, while walking routes offered an opportunity to take a short break from the usual routine. For those looking for a more relaxing activity, ping pong and racketball were also available throughout the day.

These activities were complemented by opportunities to simply slow down and enjoy some time at the parking area. A pasta food truck served a meal to the drivers, creating a moment to sit down and eat together rather than simply stopping for a quick break. The meal was accompanied by a selection of local products, including fresh juices, seasonal fruit, biscuits, coffee and honey from a local farmer.

Supporting healthier journeys

The Truck Park Liège event demonstrated how different aspects of wellbeing can be brought together in one location. Health checks, exercise, recreational activities, food and social interaction all formed part of the programme, allowing drivers to choose how they wanted to spend their time.

The Wellbeing Campaign highlights that driver wellbeing goes beyond safe and secure parking. A suitable parking environment can also provide opportunities for drivers to rest properly, stay active, access health-related services and maintain connections while spending time on the road. The Wellbeing Day at Truck Park Liège was one example of how these principles can be put into practice, combining practical services with simple opportunities to pause, recharge and connect with others.

ESPORG thanks Hesbymazout Truck Park Liège, all participating partners and, above all, the  drivers who took part in the activities throughout the day.
