Setting up two safe and secure parking areas in the Spanish-French border region promoted by BIDEGI S.A

Truck drivers now have access to two new secure and secure truck parking areas (SSTPAs) in the TEN-T Atlantic Corridor.

Located in the Basque Country near the Biriatou border, the Astigarraga SSTPA provides 341 spaces for northbound traffic, and the Oiartzun SSTPA offers 184 spaces for southbound traffic.

Both SSTPAs meet the highest EU security standards, with anti-climbing perimeters, surveillance cameras, and designated areas for dangerous goods and refrigerated transports.

The parkings offer amenities such as showers, laundry facilities, a restaurant, a supermarket, and recreational areas.

The project, promoted by the BIDEGI S.A., Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, received significant support from the European Commission, through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding framework.

Creating a network of connected safe and secure parking areas in Hungary and Romania (SecureNetwork)” promoted by Bivak KFT and Trade Trans Combi Romania

Co-funded by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding program, “SecureNetwork” project coordinated by Trade Trans Combi Romonia, focuses on enhancing road transport safety and security along the Romania โ€“ Hungary โ€“ Western Europe route. It strives to improve accessibility, connectivity, reduce infrastructure gaps, and elevate service quality for the haulage industry.

The project created a network of SSTPAs between Hungary and Romania, achieving the following:

A new gold-level SSTPA with 180 parking spaces at Curtici near the Romanian motorway E 671;
A new gold-level SSTPA with 170 parking spaces in Kiskunfelegyhaza on Hungarian motorway M5;
Upgraded an existing SSTPA at Nagykanizsa on the Hungarian motorway M7, expanding it from 25 to 35 parking spaces at bronze level standard;
Upgraded an existing SSTPA at Hatvan on the Hungarian motorway M3, increasing the parking spaces from 60 to 80 at silver level standard.

All SSTPAs have been established and upgraded offering top-notch services, in accordance with EU requirements on the field. These SSTPAs ensure enhanced surveillance and safety measures to protect both drivers and their cargo, well-designed facilities, advanced ticketing and monitoring systems to streamline the parking process and enhance efficiency and convenience, high-quality assistance and comprehensive facilities catering to drivers’ needs and amenities such as showers, rest areas, and food services to ensure comfort and convenience for drivers during their stay.

SSTPA Jabbeke North and South promoted by TotalEnergies and Circle K Belgium

The Jabbeke SSTPA project stands as a testament to its commitment to advancing sustainable, smart and green transportation systems. Co-funded by the European Commission through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding programme, this SSTPAs project falls under the umbrella of TotalEnergiesโ€™ Global Project, which has seen a comprehensive renovation of the motorway service station adjacent to the E40 in Jabbeke.

The renovation encompasses modernising the filling station, revamping the restaurant and shop, and reconfiguring the parking area for trucks. The following milestones have been achieved:

  • Jabbeke North, situated along the E40, direction Ostend and expanded with 80 truck parking spaces, in accordance with the Gold level of the European Truck Parking Standard, as outlined in Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012;
  • Jabbeke South, located along the E40-direction Bruxelles, enlarged with 60 truck parking spaces, in alignment with the Silver level of the European Truck Parking Standard, as outlined in Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012.

In a bid to enhance security measures, the parking area in the Ostend direction has been equipped with Mac Address Scanners. These scanners enable real-time checks for the presence of transmigrants within the cargo, bolstering safety protocols.

Drivers whose cargo is deemed free from intrusion receive a Green Lane Stamp, facilitating expedited passage and embarking at ports in France and Belgium, as well as streamlined procedures upon arrival at UK ports. This comprehensive overhaul underscores TotalEnergies and Circle K’s commitment to enhancing safety and efficiency in trucking logistics.
