The European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG) is committed to support the further rollout of high-quality standards for truck parking areas in Europe.

The one and only standard based on legislation is the EU Parking Standard enshrined in the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012 of 7 April 2022. This standard guarantees security, safety and services on truck parking areas.

Compliance with standards is only achievable through independent third-party audits. ESPORG therefore welcomes that the European Commission has validated several audit companies to carry out the audits foreseen under the EU Parking Standard.

In order to be able to conduct certification and audit activities under the standard these audit companies must also be awarded a scope extension under EN ISO/IEC 17021-1 by their national accreditation bodies. So far, no company had fulfilled this obligation.

Recently, DEKRA has been officially accredited by Accredia to perform all required certification and audit activities in accordance with the EU Parking Standard. This makes DEKRA the first – and currently only – audit body to be able to fully perform audit and certification services under this standard.

ESPORG congratulates DEKRA and encourage the other audit bodies to obtain accreditation as soon as possible to be able to perform the audits in a legally correct manner. This will allow for an acceleration of the certification of truck parking areas. Only certified parking areas can demonstrate quality and reliability to the market.

Through its EU Parking Academy, ESPORG is providing all information to parking operators to get certified as soon as possible. We invite all interested stakeholders to reach out to us now.
