Brussels, 26 March 2026: ESPORG 2026 Award Winners, Bapaume Truck House (FR) and Truck Etape Béziers(FR), and runners up, Recharge City (DK) and LeShuttle Freight Village (FR), shared their best practices with ESPORG members from across Europe.
At a dedicated ESPORG workshop, organized today, the best European truck parking areas shared generously their knowledge, know-how and practices with the rest of ESPORG Members, during an interactive round-table presentation and debate, featuring a true industry commitment to excellence, sustainability and drivers’ wellbeing. ESPORG 2026 Award Winners, Bapaume Truck House (FR) and LeShuttle Freight Village (FR), were the first to share their best practices at ESPORG workshop organized on 26 March 2026..
Dirk Penasse, ESPORG’s General Manager, said: “The main lesson, beyond commitment to excellence and genuine innovation, is the recognition that the best truck parkings in Europe have already developed a genuine service culture, which is embodied across the board – from infrastructure and management, to the most mundane daily practices.”
Among the main easy to implement take-aways from the workshop, were:
- Introducing multilingual information, signage and staff communication at multiple spots;

- Introducing dedicated facilities for female drivers, such as reserved showers, WCs, and free hygiene products;
- Building up partnerships with local associations, authorities, training and NGO-related institutions;
- Establishing partnerships with nearby hotels and accommodation and facilitating drivers’ access to them/ shuttle services;
- Organising dedicated events (sports, dinners, celebrations) for drivers;
- Adding leisure and relaxation spaces for drivers, such as TV rooms, reading areas, outdoor seatings, and fitness corners;
- Developing a formal driver well-being strategy, including by setting targets and measuring satisfaction; Organizing regular multilingual drivers’ satisfaction surveys.
- Formalizing, through training, parking staff’s greeting routines, up to welcoming and greeting drivers at arrival;
- Setting up waste sorting stations with clear labelling for drivers and staff;
- Installing water-saving controls across the board;
- Ensuring all lighting is LED with motion sensors and timers;
- Installing electric plug-ins for refrigerated trailers, to eliminate overnight diesel generator noise and emissions;
