At the 2026 ESPORG Conference, one parking facility stood out for its commitment to security, innovation, and, above all, the people behind the wheel. Bapaume Truck House, located in northern France won the Excellence in Truck Parking Award 2026, recognizing its outstanding contribution to driver wellbeing and secure parking services.
For Thierry Roger, General Director of Bapaume Truck House, the award represents much more than a business achievement.
“This kind of reward is the recognition of the work of our entire team, from investors to operational staff, because we’ve made a lot of effort to improve the conditions of the drivers,” he says.

Located in Bapaume in northern France, right on the A1 motorway — one of Europe’s busiest corridors with more than 25,000 vehicles daily — Bapaume Truck House offers 300 high-security parking spaces. Strategically positioned to serve international drivers travelling between Western and Eastern Europe, the facility has become much more than a place to rest. Its mission is to create a secure, clean, and genuinely human-centred environment for drivers from Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The guiding idea is simple yet powerful: make drivers feel respected, safe, and at home.
“We are not just running a secure parking facility; we are building a service ecosystem,” Thierry Roger explains. “We want drivers to feel safe, but more importantly, we want drivers to be respected.”
The facility has become known for its strong focus on driver wellbeing, combining high-level security with quality services and a welcoming atmosphere. Staff regularly engage with drivers, creating a sense of community :“We speak with them, we eat with them, we celebrate events with them,” Thierry Riger says. “What makes the success of our parking is that it is not just a parking area, but a family.”
The philosophy is reflected in the company’s slogan: “Just Like Home.”
“We know there is no better house than home, but we try to make a second home for drivers,” Thierry adds.
“We are building trust for the drivers who need rest and services, trust for the transport companies who need cargo protection, and also trust for the customers who rely on reliable delivery.”
Receiving the first Excellence in Truck Parking Award is particularly meaningful as the industry increasingly recognises the strategic importance of secure parking.
“We are no longer talking about parking as asphalt and fencing,” Bapaume General Director says. “We are talking about driver dignity, cargo protection, compliance with the EU Mobility Package, and the future of transport in Europe.”
He believes secure parking is becoming a critical element of Europe’s transport infrastructure and welcomes the growing attention being given to driver wellbeing and security across the sector.
European recognition
By the Excellence in Truck Parking Award, ESPORG celebrates truck parking operators that demonstrate exceptional commitment to safety, service quality, innovation, sustainability, and driver wellbeing. The award highlights best practices across Europe and promotes higher standards throughout the secure parking sector.
Thierry Roger was also keen to acknowledge ESPORG’s ongoing support.“Thank you to ESPORG, because the entire ESPORG team helps us in our everyday work, especially through the wellbeing programme. We want to continue developing wellbeing initiatives in our secure parking area.”
A Model for the Future
Bapaume Truck House’s win sends a clear message across the European transport sector: the best secure parking facilities are those that treat drivers with dignity and build genuine community. In doing so, they strengthen the entire logistics chain — from the driver behind the wheel to the customer waiting for reliable delivery.
As Thierry Roger and his team have shown, when drivers feel respected and at home, everyone wins.
