On 20 November 2025, ESPORG and the Fédération Nationale des Transports Routiers (FNTR) jointly hosted a workshop at Solutrans.
Divided in two panel, the workshop gathered various expert representing the different levels of the transport sector and aimed at reinforcing the growing partnership focused on developing secure, high-quality truck parking areas and improving driver well-being across France and Europe.
FNTR and ESPORG – A Shared Commitment to Safety and Quality
The session opened with welcoming remarks by Dirk Penasse, General Manager of ESPORG, and Benjamin Joigneaux, President of the FNTR Europe & International Commission.
Dirk Penasse emphasised the significance of this strengthened collaboration:
“Our collaboration with FNTR is an important step forward in advancing safe parking areas and improving driver well-being. We are honoured by this partnership, and I hope that by the next fair we will see many more certified secure parking areas in France serving French transport operators.”
Benjamin Joigneaux reaffirmed FNTR’s long-standing commitment to defending the needs of transport operators:
“It is essential to work hand in hand with ESPORG for the deployment of safe and secure parking areas, for the benefit of companies and drivers.”
He also stressed the broader importance of safety and quality parking in helping the transport sector meet European requirements, improve road safety, and attract new talent:
“At a time when recruiting professional drivers is becoming increasingly difficult, we want to retain our drivers and attract new ones—especially young people and women. Well-being and safety are truly essential.”
European Legislation & the EU Parking Standard
Frédéric Maas, ESPORG Delegate of the Board, provided a concise overview of the EU regulatory framework, including the Mobility Package, the delegated regulation on SSTPA certification, and upcoming obligations requiring certified parking every 150 km along the TEN-T network.
