In the fast-evolving world of transport and logistics, ESPORG partner, Milence is playing a pivotal role in building the charging infrastructure that will power Europe’s transition to electric heavy-duty transport.
During the ESPORG Annual Conference 2026, we had an insightful conversation with Sarah Papamichalis Head of Product at Milence, about the company’s remarkable journey, its vision for decarbonisation and why partnerships like the one with ESPORG matter.

From Startup to Scale-Up
When asked about Milence’s progress since its founding in 2022, Sarah is visibly proud:
“In typical startup-to-scale-up fashion, we’re still figuring out exactly what we are — but I would now classify us as a scale-up. We have real scale.”
Today, Milence operates charging stations across Europe, offering seamless corridor-to-corridor connectivity from north to south and west to east. Drivers can now plan routes with more confidence, knowing that reliable charging is available along major European corridors.
This rapid expansion reflects the company’s original vision: creating an infrastructure backbone that makes electric freight not just possible, but preferable. Milence specialises in high-performance charging infrastructure, primarily for e-trucks, while rapidly expanding into e-coaches and electric buses.
The Power of Partnership
The company sees the partnership with ESPORG as a key platform to exchange knowledge with parking and mobility professionals, adopt best practices, and contribute to the creation of truly driver-centric infrastructure.
“We’re learning from mature parking organisations,” Sarah notes. “Even small improvements in service standards, user experience, or site quality can make a big difference for drivers.”
As Europe races toward its ambitious decarbonisation targets, companies like Milence — and leaders like Sarah Papa Mikalis — are ensuring that the transition to electric mobility is not only technologically feasible but also practical and welcoming for the drivers who keep our economies moving.
“The drivers’ wellbeing is one of the foundations Milence is built upon. We continue to do research on what drivers need” Sarah explained.
This strong commitment to improving conditions for professional drivers is one of the key reasons Milence became a valuable signatory of the ESPORG Drivers’ Wellbeing Pledge, reinforcing the shared ambition of creating safer, more comfortable, and more sustainable environments for drivers across Europe.
