In an industry where security often takes centre stage, Truck Étape Béziers has demonstrated that a truly outstanding truck parking area is about much more than safe parking. It is about creating a place where drivers feel respected, comfortable, connected, and cared for.
This year, those efforts have been recognised at the highest level. Truck Étape Béziers, operated by Fal Distri, has been honoured with both the Green Truck Parking Award 2026 and the Home Away from Home Award 2026, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and driver wellbeing.
For Karina Marty, HR and Legal Officer at Truck Étape Béziers, the awards are not only a recognition of years of hard work but also an encouragement to continue improving: “Since we took over this parking area in 2017, driver wellbeing has really been one of our main development priorities. This award is truly a recognition of our efforts. But it is also a motivation to continue and to keep doing even better.”

Fal Distri operates two secure, guarded truck parking facilities in southern France: Truck Étape Béziers, with 350 parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles, and Truck Arena 31 near Toulouse, offering an additional 120 secure parking spaces.
Sustainability That Improves Comfort
The Green Truck Parking Award recognises facilities that successfully combine environmental responsibility with operational excellence. At Truck Étape Béziers, sustainability initiatives are designed not only to reduce environmental impact but also to enhance the experience for drivers.
One of the most significant investments has been the replacement of traditional fuel-based heating systems with energy-efficient heat pumps: “We replaced the old fuel-based systems with heat pumps. This allows drivers to always have hot showers, while also allowing us to save energy,” Karina Marty explains. “Our two main development priorities come together here: energy savings and driver wellbeing.”.
“Being green means saving the planet, protecting it, and saving energy. But at the same time, our two objectives are always connected: sustainability and improving driver wellbeing.”
This philosophy illustrates an important lesson for the industry: environmental responsibility and customer comfort do not have to compete—they can strengthen one another.
Secure Parking Built Around Drivers
Winning the Home Away from Home Award reflects something that cannot be measured solely in infrastructure or technology. It recognises the atmosphere and experience created for drivers spending long periods away from their families.
While security remains a fundamental service, the company has built its reputation on a broader vision—creating environments where drivers can rest, recover, and feel like at home while away from home. Each site features a restaurant serving freshly prepared meals made with seasonal ingredients, available from early morning until late evening. “We use fresh and seasonal products, cooked by a chef. The restaurant is open from 6:00 in the morning until 23:00 in the evening. During this time, drivers can eat no matter what time they arrive,” explains Karina Marty.
At Truck Étape Béziers, attention to detail plays a crucial role. Clean facilities, quality food, reliable amenities, and welcoming service all contribute to making drivers feel valued.
Recognising the importance of staying connected, the sites provide high-speed Wi-Fi, allowing drivers to maintain contact with loved ones wherever they are. The company has also introduced an innovative digital press service, giving drivers free access to thousands of newspapers from around the world—including publications from their own regions and hometowns.
Setting the Standard for the Future
As the road transport industry continues to face challenges related to driver shortages, working conditions, and sustainability goals, facilities such as Truck Étape Béziers demonstrate what is possible when investment is guided by a clear vision. The double recognition at the ESPORG Excellence in Truck Parking Awards 2026 confirms that excellence in parking goes beyond fences, cameras, and secure spaces. It lies in creating environments where drivers feel safe, comfortable, respected, and connected.
Truck Étape Béziers has shown that when sustainability and wellbeing go hand in hand, everybody benefits—from drivers and operators to the wider transport industry and the communities it serves.
